Pinot Grigio
2009 Tertini Pinot Grigio

Order

Our Tertini range of wines are designed to be easy drinking styles showing intense primary fruit flavours with an uncomplicated wine making style.

Tasting Notes: This is a beautifully balanced wine with golden hues and rich aromas of ripe fruit. Complex flavours of poached pear, white nectarine and lees contact linger on the palate. An ideal wine to compliment rich pasta dishes, terrines, cheese and white meats such as pork and chicken.

Wine Analysis: Alcohol = 13.3%, pH = 3.38, TA = 5.5g/l, Residual Sugar 0.27g/l

Vintage & Winemaking Notes: The 2009 vintage started normally with average budburst dates in all varieties. Good growth was experienced early in the season with moderate temperatures and good soil moisture. The weather turned cold at flowering (late November) which resulted in an abnormally long flowering/fruit set period. After Christmas, the warmer weather returned with extremely hot temperatures during late January to early February, which rebalanced ripening and resulted in excellent fruit.

The Pinot Grigio was picked at 13.0 Baume on the 19th March. The fruit showed an intense richness of flavour that was enhanced by fermenting one third of the juice in 2nd & 3rd year French oak barrels before re-blending it with the tank fermented wine and leaving it on lees until bottling in December.

Fruit Source: 100% Southern Highlands from the "Greenville" vineyard.

Peak Drinking: Next 2 years.
