Vintage Notes: The 2009 vintage

Good growth was experienced early in the season with moderate
temperatures and good soil moisture. The weather turned cold
at flowering (late November) which resulted in an abnormally
long flowering/fruit set period. After Christmas, the warmer
weather returned with extremely hot temperatures during late
January to early February, which rebalanced ripening and resulted
in excellent fruit. In particular, the warm end to the season
ensured adequate ripeness in the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Merlot was picked on 16th April and the Cabernet Sauvignon
on 24th April at 13.4 Baume. The wine spent 24 hours on skins
and then drained off and fermented in stainless steel tanks.
Fruit Type: 66% Merlot and 34%
Cabernet Sauvignon.
Fruit Source: 100% Southern Highlands
from our “Yaraandoo” vineyard
