Tertini Wines
Tertini Wines is dedicated to producing premium, cool climate
wines with a particular interest in alternative varieties. The
wines are subtle and elegant, with excellent fruit characters
arising from the long, slow ripening period and our commitment
to limiting crop levels to below 3 tonnes to the acre. High natural
acidity gives the wines a clean finish and good cellaring potential.
Our “Yaraandoo” vineyard is located
near the historic village of Berrima in the Southern Highlands,
an emerging cool climate region in New South Wales, at the
relatively high altitude of 715 metres.
Although the vineyard is young, with the
first plantings in 2000, it has produced outstanding fruit
from the start. Our first real vintage was 2005 and the first
wine we completed (the ’05
Tertini Riesling) won a Gold Medal and a Trophy in the first
wine show we entered! Each wine and vintage since then has brought
more medals from wine shows and accolades from Australia’s
leading wine writers.
These outstanding results from young vines show great promise
for the future and confirm the potential of both the vineyard
and the region.
Our viticulturist is a cool climate/Southern Highlands specialist
who applies all his knowledge to obtaining the best possible
results in the vineyard. We hand prune and then hand pick to
ensure that only the best fruit is selected each year. Our winemakers
are also cool climate specialists who apply their expertise and
experience through careful, meticulous handling in the winery.
If there is a best of the best in a particular vintage, the
wine is identified for special treatment and then released under
our Tertini Reserve label.
Cellar Door: We welcome visitors to our Cellar
Door from 10am – 5pm
every Thursday – Monday, or other times by appointment.
The Cellar Door is attached to our winery which is just 6 minutes
from Mittagong on Kells Creek Road (off Wombeyan Caves Road).
